Anna Marie Valerio

Anna Marie Valerio, Ph.D., is an executive coach and consultant specializing in women’s leadership and executive development.  Her experience includes coaching and consulting with Fortune 500 senior executives across a wide variety of industries and organizations.  Anna Marie has enabled the leadership development of hundreds of  leaders at senior executive levels in the following industries:  technology, IT, consumer products, financial services, fashion, health care, hospitality, insurance, medical technology, pharmaceutical, and consulting services.  Special strengths include accelerating the development of C-suite leaders, women leaders, and STEM leaders as they grow and move into complex global roles. 

In her prior years of corporate experience,  Anna Marie was responsible for executive development at IBM with the CEO’s direct reports and top 300 leaders focused on building global leadership and organizational capability.  At Verizon and at SONY, in successive strategic HR leadership roles, Anna Marie directed teams of professionals and managers involving corporate-wide, large-scale change management initiatives in leadership development, and the creation of corporate-wide assessments, measures, and development initiatives including employee opinion surveys, 360- feedback surveys, performance management, leadership competencies, selection and assessment tests, organization development, coaching, and executive education.

Anna Marie has authored two books on leadership development, Developing Women Leaders: A Guide for Men and Women in Organizations (2009, Wiley/Blackwell) and Executive Coaching: A Guide for the HR Professional (co-authored with Robert J. Lee, 2005, Wiley/Pfeiffer).  Dr. Valerio is a member of New York University’s Adjunct Faculty in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and teaches Executive Coaching and Advanced Executive Coaching in the Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychology Masters’ Degree Program.

Anna Marie continues to publish cutting-edge articles and book chapters and to deliver presentations and workshops for professional and business audiences on topics related to women’s leadership, coaching women leaders, learning agility, and executive coaching.  Articles by Anna Marie have been published in Harvard Business Review, Journal of Consulting Psychology, Forbes.com, SHRM’s HR People + Strategy, Business Horizons, and BloombergBusinessweek.com. 

Anna Marie holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from The City University of New York and a New York State license in Psychology. Memberships include The Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology (SIOP), The Society of Consulting Psychology (SCP), and The NY Metropolitan Association for Applied Psychology (NY METRO).
